  • The impact of air pollution on coronavirus

    According to a report produced by expert advisers to the UK government, air pollution is likely to exacerbate the number and severity of Covid-19 infections, as published in The Guardian. A government advisory group chaired by Professor Frank Kelly input into this report, noting that potential interactions between air pollution and Covid-19 were important to assess as they may be relevant to the future management of the pandemic.

  • China’s air pollution returns to pre-coronavirus levels

    Many cities saw a plummet in levels of air pollution as a result of government imposed lockdowns due to Covid-19. With China seeing a return to levels of air pollution held prior to Covid-19, researchers question whether European cities will soon see a similar rise. Researchers and air pollution experts, including Dr Gary Fuller as reported in The Guardian, urge governments and campaigners to work to ensure a sustainable legacy as global recovery efforts are underway.
